Meet & Connect

This convivial meeting organised by SMart will bring together actors from the field of creation around a constructive dialogue. The participant will be able to collect information and contacts to carry out a project.

Accompanied by Emmanuel d’Autreppe and Thomas Chable, the event will start with short presentations by artists professionally experienced in photography.

In 2013 the SMart research office published « La photographie en Belgique. Mises au point sur un secteur. » (“Photography in Belgium. Self-Publishing

Motivated by the desire of liberty, or the willingness to realise in spite of the difficulty to retain the attention of an editor, self-publishing attracts more and more artists. The one who decides to self-publish his/her publication decides alone; she/he offers her/himself an exciting adventure guaranteeing the liberty allowing resourcefulness and creativity, and also requiring persistence. From the design to the printing, including distribution… the choices to make are numerous.

Meeting with some photographic artists having experienced self-publishing or being uncompromising enthusiasts of it, and also with actors from the networks of distribution.

With (amongst others) : David Widart and the young independant editorial platform “L’amicale”, Vincent Delbrouck, Max Pinckers and Alain Janssens + other participants to be confirmed.

Meeting with Patrick Everaert

Espace 251 Nord, in the context of his exhibition EVERMORE

In the context of BIP2014, Espace 251 Nord presents a personal exhibition of Patrick Everaert’s work. For twenty-five years, this Belgian artist has been working on the production of very original images. On the basis of an archive of found photographs, he recomposes new images with a high potential of mystery; undecidable objects, vectors of distance and suspension which oblige us to think differently the question of seeing.
